	In The News Monday, August 04, 2008 King Returns to Capitol to Push for Energy Vote WASHINGTON D.C. – U.S. Congressman Steve King returned to the Capitol this morning to push for a vote on domestic drilling to lower prices at the pump. Last Friday, Congress adjourned for five weeks, without passing legislation to allow domestic exploration for oil to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and lower gas and all energy prices. “Congress should be passing laws for more and cheaper energy instead of taking a five week recess,” said King. Other Representatives have also returned to Washington fight for a vote on an energy bill that includes domestic exploration to lower gas prices. “We are returning to Congress this week because the American people want Congress to address high gas prices. I am now convinced that liberals want higher gas prices because they have taken a five week recess. Liberals refuse to consider producing more energy at home. The fact remains, if we don’t produce more oil, natural gas and nuclear energy Iowa families will soon not be able to pay to fill their gas tanks. Driving less is not an option for many people living in Western Iowa,” said King. King serves in Congress representing Iowa’s Fifth District.
