KING: SADDAM VERDICT
VICTORY FOR IRAQI PEOPLE, IRAQ RULE OF LAW
KIRON - U.S. Congressman Steve King (IA-05) today issued the following
statement regarding Saddam Hussein being found guilty of crimes against
humanity and being sentenced to death:
"Today's verdict is a clear milestone of progress for the Iraqi people,
and they should be congratulated by all Americans. Milestone after
milestone, the people of Iraq are realizing their own freedom."
"Last year, I met with the judges who sat in judgment of Saddam and
encouraged them to be courageous in the face of threats to their lives
and their families. They have done all that we could have asked at
great risk. In the process, they have established a foundation of the
rule of law for all Iraqis."
"Now
the Iraqis can move forward for the destiny of their own country, and
band together against the terrorists, who know how critical the Iraq
battlefield is to the security of the world."
